Welcome to the Ranelagh Yacht Squadron

Ranelagh Yacht Squadron welcomes aspiring sailors, kayakers, paddle boarders, swimmers, dolphin spotters, snorkelers, windsurfers, fishermen, safety boat drivers and beach lovers of all ages.  Whether you’ve sailed all your life, or have never been on a boat, you’re welcome to join us at Ranelagh Beach for sailing courses and social activities.

Social Sailing is encouraged during racing and participation days. Races have been designed to encourage all members to participate and enjoy their time on the water. Members are encouraged to bring families and friends to participate in club activities.

Club Racing is designed to encourage members to increase their skills and confidence on the water while competing in a racing environment.

Holiday Programs

The KidSail 2023 program will be running from the 3rd January to the 6th January 2023. Open to all kids between the ages of 7 and 13 years. 

Course fee: $395pp, $495pp non members.

Includes: Daily morning tea, lunch, awards and activities along with 4 days of learning and fun on the water!

Our programs start with essential skills and safe practice with more advanced skills and technques gradually introduced as students progress through the syllabus.

Try Sailing Day

Try Sailing Days are designed to attract new participants to the sport of Sailing. You will gain an opportunity to go for a sail and have a look around your local Sailing Club.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have to be a member of Ranelagh to participate in sailing?

Yes, membership is required to sail at Ranelagh. However, to allow non-members to participate we have a number of affordable options available.

Do I need my own boat?

No, we supply the boats, as well as instructors, PFD’s, rescue craft and a great time.

Do you have to be able to swim to participate in a discover sailing program?

Yes, minimal swimming ability is required however you will be wearing PFD’s at all times.

What to bring:

  • Bathers (including a rash vest or t-shirt)
  • Towel
  • Wetsuit (if available)
  • Thermal underclothes if available
  • Woolen or thermal jumpers for cold days
  • Windproof and waterproof jacket
  • Old runners or wetsuit booties
